Mechanical Conveying and Pneumatic Conveying

- Thursday, October 10, 2019

The powder conveyor is a specialized powder conveying mechanism specifically designed to move fine powder materials in manufacturing, storage or dispatching equipment. While powders can be transported using conventional belt conveyors, the reality of potential contamination such as environmental pollution, dust generation and explosion hazards often requires dedicated conveyors for these materials. The more common types of powder delivery equipment include pneumatic, mechanical and spiral systems.

The difference between mechanical transport and pneumatic transport for powder:

1. The structure of the mechanical conveyor includes a conveyor belt, a sliding rod, a flexible screw and a bucket elevator. It uses mechanical means that are in direct contact with the transfer material. The screw conveyor uses a motor to drive the spiral to rotate, and the material is moved to achieve the purpose of conveying the machine. Pneumatic conveying is powered by compressed air, which uses a gas (usually air) to transport suspended matter through the pipeline.

2. Pneumatic conveyors have few moving parts, making cleaning and maintenance a breeze. Mechanical conveyors with a range of moving parts require more maintenance and more complex cleaning procedures than pneumatic conveyors.

For bulk dry powder materials, pneumatic conveying is currently the most hygienic means of transport because it is a completely enclosed system that prevents air, dirt and waste materials from affecting the equipment from dust. But no matter what kind of equipment, they are designed to reduce the risk of powder delivery.
